National cycle training organisation AustCycle is coming to Guyra to turn residents into accredited cycle Teachers.
AustCycle will present a Level 1 Teacher Accreditation Program on September 22 to 23, which will give participants the skills to get people within the community back on bikes.
Stephen Griffith, Guyra's Healthy Highlanders Coordinator, said it is hoped the 2-day course will encourage more Guyra residents to take up cycling as part of the Healthy Communities Initiative.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people in the community who would like to be trained as AustCycle instructors to be subsidised to undertake training as part of the Healthy Highlanders program,” Griffith said.
As an accredited AustCycle Teacher you will be able to provide a wide range of cycle training programs to the community, from beginner learn to ride courses through to advanced traffic skills classes.
This is a great opportunity for current teachers, coaches and athletes, as well as anyone with a passion for fitness, health or safety. Participants should have basic bike handling skills and an interest in cycling.
The subsidy is available to assist participants who will be delivering training programs to Guyra or other HCI regions.
"It is hoped that AustCycle programs will be incorporated into the Healthy Highlanders program later in the year," advised Griffith.
Places are limited in the training course so obtain a course enrolment form today by emailing education@austcycle.com.au or calling Meredith Gray on (02) 9339 5843.
