Gosford City Council has been busy tackling road safety in its community, launching the new ‘A Metre Matters’ Campaign.

David Gillett, the council’s cycleways and pedestrian safety officer, said the campaign is designed to promote safe cycling, raise awareness of cyclists in the community and help motorists realise that cyclists “are road users too”.

The initiative has seen a large ‘A Metre Matters’ poster installed on the back of two buses that will travel the main routes around Gosford until October 7th.

David said the campaign is already proving powerful.

“I’ve seen it several times already cycling in to work and on the weekends,” he told AustCycle.

The campaign is run in partnership with the Amy Gillett Foundation and in association with Busways and Go Transit.
