Media > Special offer! Free cycling training for organisations extended Until 30th June 2010
The Department of Environment and Climate Change and Water, NSW (DECCW) and AustCycle are pleased to announce that the DECCW Cycling Voucher initiative offering FREE cycle education to NSW companies, has been extended to 30th June 2010.
The Department of Environment and Climate Change and Water, NSW are providing a significant number of DECC Cycling Vouchers valued at $360. These vouchers are FREE to NSW companies, councils and community groups to provide adult AustCycle training courses for everyone from beginners to experienced riders.
Since its launch, the DECCW Voucher Program has provided cycle education to more than 300 groups in NSW. With vouchers still available, organisations across NSW still have the opportunity to take up this exciting offer and provide free cycle education to their staff.
AustCycle is a joint venture between Cycling Australia, the Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) and the Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA). It was formally established in 2008 to deliver high quality cycling training, by accredited AustCycle Teachers to Australians of all ages so that they can ride further, more often, more confidently and more safely. This will result in more active, healthier, happier Australians and a safer, cleaner environment.
AustCycle is the result of over a decade of research, which has identified a strong need to develop a national cycling training scheme. It is a new venture designed to be the cycling equivalent of AUSTSWIM, which counts for approximately 400,000 swimming class participants each week. AustCycle seeks to take advantage of and contribute to the significant increase in popularity that we have seen in cycling in recent years. This popularity has been fed by factors such as a concern for the environment, health and fitness, economic factors and the pure fun of riding bikes.
Does your organisation want to receive free cycle training? Do you want your employees to be fitter, healthier, happier and more productive at work?
