Ready, set, go – Children learn to cycle

AustCycle and Cycling Australia have partnered with Play Valley Kids to develop two cycling books about the experience of learning to ride.

The two new picture books are available in boy and girl versions and tell the story of Harry and Sophie and the excitement of receiving their first bikes.

The book also includes safety tips as well as video links like this one, which helps teach children to correctly pedal and brake.

Both books can also be personalised to include the name of your child, making it the perfect gift for birthdays or Christmas.

AustCycle and Cycling Australia provided guidance on both the videos and the story, giving advice on the technical aspects of riding and passing on tips on how kids can stay safe.

Play Valley Kids is all about playing sports and having fun and they produce children’s stories around this to help inspire kids to get active. To accompany the stories there is also a website which features tips, skills and drills, and downloadable free colour-in pictures to download.

The books can be purchased in bookstores or online, so visit http://www.playvalleykids.com to view the Ready, set, go cycling books or to find out more!
